Commissioning An Artist
Faux finishes and murals are an investment to your home or business. Hours of creative planning, preparation, and artistic skill are required to execute these types of art. You are not hiring a “painter”. You are commissioning an Artist.
Phone Consultation
I use our phone consultation as a basis for our initial consultation. The more information that you provide, the better I can prepare for our initial consultation. During this time, we will discuss what area you are considering for the mural or faux, some basic ideas that you have for your space, and the approximate time you wish for your project to begin. I will not be able to provide you with any type of estimate becuse each project is an original piece of art. I can only do this after our Initial consultation.
Initial Consultation
The initial consultation is $50.00 and is due on that day. During the consultation, we will discuss the ideas you have, the mood you are trying to create and the look that you desire. I will share with you design options , let you view actual sample boards of faux finishes that could be custom designed for your space, and choose a color pallet that will compliment your décor. Your space will be measured at this time.
If you wish to commission a mural, I will discuss the ideas you have, view reference photos or objects of interest that you wish to have incorporated into the mural. I will explain the option of using canvas vs. painting on the wall so that you can decide which would be better for your situation. To ensure the mural will flow, a rough sketch is done during the consultation.
Within 1-3 business days, you will receive a quote.
The Process Begins
Once you have accepted the quote, a contract will be signed and I will require ½ of the total as a deposit. This money will be used to create sketches, make sample boards and for the purchase of your specific supplies, and secure your dates.
A date will be set to review sample boards or sketches, then a different date will be set to start the project. Most Faux Finishes take 1-5 days to complete depending on the complexity of the technique, number of layers and size of the area . The completion time of a mural also depends on the size, amount of detail and complexity of the artwork.
The final payment is due upon completion of the project.
